Owner & Captain: JOsh Erickson
I grew up boating and camping along the shores of the beautiful St. Croix River in western Wisconsin. As an adult, my ambition to explore the unknown brought me to the far reaches of East Asia and several islands throughout the Pacific Rim. It was fascinating to meet new people and experience new cultures.
Sailing throughout the Pacific made me aware of how our actions can impact the environment and populations oceans away. It was because of my travels that I came to realize the need for environmental education and stewardship on a local level. I returned to the United States to continue my collegiate education, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Studies and Biology with specific focus on coastal ecosystems and oceanography. My passion for educating people about the environment and encouraging them to explore their natural surroundings is what inspired me to create Eco Endeavors.
In addition to my collegiate education, I also hold a 100ton. USCG Master Captain license, and I am a trained Wilderness First Responder. I specialize in leading educational adventures throughout coastal Southwest Florida including: The Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, The Ten Thousand Island National Wildlife Refuge, Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the Dry Tortugas National Park.
Eco Endeavors educational adventures offer both visitors and locals the opportunity to safely explore natural areas not normally accessed by the general public and also, the opportunity to learn more about the ecological aspects unique to each individual location.
I certainly love where life has brought me and I know the next adventure may not be far away. If you would like more information about any of the adventures found on this website please feel free to contact me. Thank you for visiting.
Regards and Happy Trails,
Capt. Josh Erickson-
Capt. Nick is a local resident of south Florida and demonstrates his affection for the area every time he is on the water. Originally from Nebraska, Captain Nick made Naples, Florida his home shortly after his first visit. When not running trips for Eco Endeavors he is out SCUBA diving, kayaking, paddle boarding, hanging in his hammock or rescuing stranded boaters while working for SeaTow. He has vast experience leading educational charters throughout the 10,000 Islands and is quick to identify any wildlife you may encounter. Captain Nick is a true professional, holding a USCG Master Captain License, CPR and First Aid Certified.
Captain Chris "Soto" has years of experience cruising waters around the world. A graduate of the United States Navy "A" School, Capt. Soto is also a combat veteran. He served this country as an operations specialist and now enjoys spending his time cruising the beautiful waters of south Florida. Soto is quick to share his vast knowledge of our local area while navigating through our beautiful mangrove forests.
Sarah grew up navigating the shores of the St. Croix River in Western Wisconsin. She has had a love for being on the water from as early as she can remember. Growing up, when she wasn’t boating on the St. Croix, Sarah spent much of her time with family exploring the 10,000 Islands. Upon graduating with a Communications degree from UW-La Crosse, She spent a few years managing a Certified Clean Marina and exploring the waters of Australia and New Zealand. It wasn’t long until the 10,000 Islands of South Florida drew her back and she would become an official Florida resident and Captain. She is eager to share her passion for the environment and local wildlife as well as the beauty of Southwest Florida waters with others who come to enjoy and explore the area. Sarah holds a USCG Master’s Captains license and is also CPR and first aid certified.
Capt. Campbell joined the U.S. Coast Guard straight out of high school. “Being around the water and the marine industry has always excited me like nothing else has”. After his time in the Coast Guard, Capt. Campbell continued to follow his passion for exploration, sailing the North Atlantic and South Pacific Oceans. Completing those voyages solidified his plans to become a professional Captain. Now a resident of Florida, Capt. Campbell enjoys showing people the scenic beauty of Southwest Florida and ensuring they have a great time while on the water. He holds a USCG Master Captain license and is CPR and first aid certified. His friendly personality, sense of humor and can-do sprit makes him a great addition to the Eco Endeavors team.
